In this day and age, the most important aspect of digitalization is the role it can and should play in finally addressing global climate change, this is why Digital Pilipinas has been a presence at the United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as the “Conference of Parties or COP. A high point of the conference was the Dubai Innovation Tour with Enspire Founder and Executive Chairman Soud Ba’alawy, which showcased the power of tech-enabled synergistic partnerships in tackling environmental sustainability. With Elen Chavez Dela-Rosa, Richard Casinelli, Dr. William Tien, Kiran Bhagotra, Amira Jewel, and Lot Valencia.
Last year’s COP28 was of particular significance as landmark agreements were made that have the potential to significantly accelerate the reduction of the global dependence on fossil fuels: “Whilst we didn’t turn the page on the fossil fuel era in Dubai, this outcome is the beginning of the end,” said UN Climate Change Executive Secretary Simon Stiell. Digital Pilipinas was represented at COP28 in Dubai by convenor Amor Maclang.
Held annually and participated in by 200 parties, the COP is the largest and most significant conference of its kind with a focus on global climate change.
