As we embark on 2024, it’s time to reflect on the remarkable strides taken by Digital Pilipinas in the final months of 2023. Through unwavering dedication and strategic partnerships, forged across continents, the Philippines solidified its position as a driving force in Southeast Asia’s digital transformation. 

Key Partnerships in Indonesia with AFTECH and AFSI
First off is the ceremonial signing with the Indonesian Fintech Association (AFTECH), carried out by Harianto Gunawan, Deputy General Chair III of AFTECH and Amor Maclang, Convenor of Digital Pilipinas, along with Alwin Jabarti Kiemas, Vice Secretary General III, Chrisma Albandjar, Vice Treasury II, and Aries Setiadi: Executive Director. With Mick Basa, Emily Pang, and Elen Chavez Dela-Rosa.

Separately, there was an MOU signing with the Indonesia Sharia Fintech Association (AFSI) with Mahaning Riyana, Executive Director, AFSI, and Ronald Yusuf Wijaya, Chairperson of Indonesia Sharia Fintech Association. 

Capetown Conversations on Youth, Tech, AI, and the Global South
Insightful discussions with renowned leaders including Thabo Mbeki, former President of South Africa, in the Mother City of Capetown emphasizing the Philippines and ASEAN’s vital contribution to the digital landscape of developing nations for further collaborations with Brazil, India, and Russia, positioning ASEAN for active participation in upcoming BRICS and G20 programs in 2024. 

Panel discussions were attended by Digital Pilipinas’ own Convenor, Amor Maclang, and various industry leaders and professionals including Tshering Cigay Dorji, Director, SELISE Digital Platforms, Vanshica Kant, International Consultant, Asian Development Bank, Sara Ahmadian, Founder, AnarVC, and Anir Chowdhury, Policy Advisor, a2i, Government of Bangladesh, while Carolina Rossini, Co-Founder and Director for Policy and Research, The Dataspher, and Isibor Aigbe Oaikhinan, Legal Officer, Legal Services Department, Central Bank of Nigeria served as panel moderators. 

Exciting Opportunities in Hungary with Tech Transfer Agreements with Neumann Technology Platform
Impactful technology transfer agreements starting with Hungary’s Neumann Technology Platform –signed with Szabolcs Szolnoki, Deputy Secretary for Technology at the Ministry for Economic Development of Hungary, Balázs Szentgyörgyi, CEO of Neumann Technology Platform, and Gabor Jenei, CEO at HEPA Hungarian Export Promotion Agency – propelling innovation across ASEAN and a partnership with Neuron Labs for collaborative endeavors within the region. With Zakar Dora, Diorella Joy Bobis Allan Gepty, Zsolt Polereczki, and David Fehérvári.

Dubai Innovation Tour at COP28 with Enspire Chairman
On the other hand, the Dubai Innovation Tour at COP28 is a collaboration with Enspire Founder and Executive Chairman Soud Ba’alawy to showcase the power of synergistic partnerships in tackling environmental sustainability. With Elen Chavez Dela-Rosa, Richard Casinelli, Dr. William Tien, Kiran Bhagotra, Amira Jewel, and Lot Valencia.

Digital Identity Advocacy Through the Philippine National ID Narrative
Championing the narrative surrounding digital identity as a fundamental human right through the Philippine National ID initiative paving the way for a more inclusive and secure future for all Filipinos.
